Matrixed Systems was an exhibition initially running from May 29 to June 29, 2026 at GLO Modern, 45 Market St, New York, NY. It was subsequently extended to July 31, 2026. This page preserves one record of what happened based on 31,889 observations deemed notable over the course of the first month during which the gallery was actively observed and documented 24/7. Afterwards, documentation ceased and a new summary of the preceding weeks was proposed each day for the remainder of the exhibition.
The event commenced in rooms characterized by an abundance of electronic devices, including computer monitors, keyboards, and televisions, where individuals were observed standing, operating remote controls, or engaging in video games. As the event progressed, the focus shifted to social gatherings, with groups of people conversing, dancing, and some filming with video cameras, often congregated around large television screens. A notable interlude captured scenes from inside moving vehicles, displaying views of cars and trains, as well as reflections in windows. Subsequently, observations reverted to static interior environments, consistently featuring rooms equipped with televisions, diverse screens, and windows, often adorned with black grates or blinds. These adaptable spaces also contained white counters, desks, laptops, and occasionally kitchen appliances. Throughout these varied settings, individuals were seen undertaking activities such as working on computers or projectors, cleaning, or simply standing and talking, underscoring a pervasive engagement within technologically furnished, communal, and transitional spaces.
